Do you have a desire to enter the exciting and rewarding world of construction?  If so, Corna Kokosing has the opportunity just for you.  Our award winning in-house apprenticeship program is one of only a few programs in the state of Ohio where you can earn college credit.

WHAT IS APPRENTICESHIP?

PROGRAM ACCREDITATION
Corna/Kokosing’s Apprenticeship Program is approved and registered with the State of Ohio’s Apprenticeship Council and the US Department of Labor’s Federal Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.

Corna/Kokosing offers apprenticeships in the following trades:

QUALIFYING FOR PROGRAM
The program is offered to all eligible associates and external candidates who meet the requirements for enrollment to the program and employment qualifications.  To be considered for the program, all applicants must:

CLASS LOCATION/SCHEDULE
The Apprenticeship Program begins each year in mid-September with an Orientation and Graduation Banquet.  Apprenticeship classes begin in October and continue through April.  Classes meet every Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 9:00 PM from October to April.  Beginning in January, classes also meet every Thursday evening from 5:00 to 9:00 PM through April. Apprenticeship classes are held at the Corna Kokosing's Main Office, Columbus State Community College, and various jobsites..

COLLEGE CREDIT
Upon completion of the apprenticeship program, each apprentice will have accumulated up to 15 quarter hours toward a Construction Management Degree through a reciprocating agreement with Columbus State Community College.  Courses taken include Safety and Loss Prevention, Construction Methods, Construction Materials, and Construction Drawings. These courses are a requirement of the apprenticeship program.

CERTIFICATIONS
Certifications gained by completing the apprenticeship program include:

APPRENTICESHIP WAGES
Apprentices are paid a percentage of the base wage for each trade area.  The percentage is based on the completion of every 1000 on-the-job (OJT) training hours. The structure below is the minimum pay range for apprentices.

SELECTION PROCESS
Corna Kokosing accepts applications for entry into our Apprenticeship Program each year beginning May 1st and ending July 31st. Acceptance into our Apprenticeship Program includes full-time employment (at an apprenticeship wage) with full-time employee benefits.

If selected based on your application, you will be notified by mail to appear for an interview with our Apprenticeship Program Committee.  An interview does not guarantee admittance into the program.

Selection of apprenticeship applicants under this program shall be on the basis of qualifications without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, gender, Veteran status, sexual orientation or non-disqualifying disability.  The committee takes affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in the apprenticeship program as required under Title 29 of the Code of Federal regulations, Part 30.
